Statistical definitions and data sources
- This counts consular visas issued, not USCIS application approvals, and does not represent approval rates.
- Immigrant visas E1, E2, and E3 are official preference categories; E2 cannot be split into NIW and other EB-2. Nonimmigrant visa E-2 is a different category.
- “Full year” is the sum of collected monthly reports for January–December of the Gregorian calendar; monthly reports are preliminary data and may be revised; this differs from the definitions used in official fiscal year reports.
- The query scope is limited to the collected years and months listed on the page. Combinations not listed in the report show “not listed” and are not presumed to be zero.
