USCIS Expands myProgress Processing-Time Estimates to EAD and Advance Parole Applications

2 min readAdapted by TOP EASIER

On July 12, 2023, USCIS announced that its myProgress personalized processing time estimates have been expanded to cover I-765 work permit applications and I-131 travel document applications. Eligible online account holders can view estimated wait times as well as three milestones: receipt confirmation, biometrics collection, and case decision. These dates are estimates only, and actual processing times may change; those submitting case inquiries about processing delays beyond the normal time should still consult the public case processing times webpage.

On July 12, USCIS announced that myProgress now covers Form I-765 (EAD) and Form I-131 (AP travel document). myProgress provides users with estimated wait times for immigration application processing. Through their USCIS online account, applicants can view estimated wait times specific to their case, including key processing milestones and the final case decision. Note that these are only estimated dates; actual processing times may change.

Currently, myProgress is also available to individuals who file:

  • Form N-400 (Application for Naturalization);
  • Form I-90 (Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card); or
  • Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative).

Individuals must have a USCIS online account to view the estimated timeline. If an application is filed electronically or linked using an online access code, the relevant details will appear under the myProgress tab for that application. Information displayed in the myProgress tab includes:

  • Confirmation of receipt;
  • Completion status of the biometrics appointment, if required; and
  • Decision on the pending case.

If an applicant wishes to submit an "outside normal processing time" request, they should first check the "Case Processing Times" webpage to confirm eligibility.

USCIS Expands myProgress to Form I-765 and Form I-131

Release Date: July 12, 2023

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced today that it is expanding myProgress (formerly known as personalized processing times) to Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization) and Form I-131 (Application for Travel Document).

myProgress allows applicants to view personalized wait time estimates for key case milestones, including the final case decision, in their online account. Although the estimates are based on historical patterns of cases with similar characteristics, they do not guarantee processing speed, cannot account for all possible unique processing delays, and may underestimate or overestimate actual processing times.

myProgress is not limited to Form I-765 and Form I-131: applicants who have a USCIS online account and file Form N-400 (Application for Naturalization), Form I-90 (Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card), or Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative) can also use the tool.

Applicants must first create a USCIS online account, or log in to their account and select a pending application, to view the estimated case timeline. If they file electronically or link one of the applicable forms to their online account using an online access code, they will see a myProgress tab under their application. The myProgress tab shows the estimated wait time until a case decision is made and displays a checkmark next to the following three milestones when completed:

  • Confirmation of application receipt;
  • Completion of the biometrics services appointment (if required);
  • Decision on the pending case.

Applicants still need to visit the public "Check Case Processing Times" webpage to determine whether they are eligible to submit an "outside normal processing time" service request.
