USCIS Expands myProgress to All I-485 Adjustment of Status Applications
On November 21, 2023, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that its myProgress service now covers I-821 Temporary Protected Status applications and all I-485 adjustment of status applications; previously, only I-485 applications for family-based immigration and Afghan special immigrants could use the service. After signing in to their online accounts, applicants can view estimated processing times based on case type and historical data, and track milestones such as receipt, processing progress, and a final decision. However, the estimate does not guarantee a specific timeframe; applicants still need to check the public processing times webpage to confirm whether they can submit a service request for a case that has exceeded normal processing times.
USCIS announced today that the myProgress service will expand to Form I-821 (Application for Temporary Protected Status) and Form I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status). Previously, myProgress was available only for family-based and Afghan special immigrant I-485 applications.
Through myProgress, applicants can view estimated times for key case milestones in their own accounts. These estimates are based on case type and historical data; however, they are only estimates and do not guarantee a specific processing time.
The myProgress service is not limited to Forms I-485 and I-821; applicants who have a USCIS online account and have submitted the following forms can also use the service:
- Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization)
- Form I-131 (Application for Travel Document)
- Form N-400 (Application for Naturalization)
- Form I-90 (Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card)
- Form I-130 (Petition for Alien Relative)
To use myProgress, applicants must first create or log in to a USCIS online account and then select their pending application. If they filed online or linked the relevant form to their account using an online access code, a myProgress tab will appear on their application page. This tab shows the estimated wait time before a case decision and marks checkboxes as each milestone is completed, including:
- Confirmation of application receipt;
- Progress of the application through preprocessing and adjudication steps;
- Final decision on the case.
Applicants also need to visit the public 'Check Case Processing Times' webpage to confirm eligibility for filing a service request for cases outside normal processing times.
